I’m James W. Thornton, better known as THOR!

I became a super proud member of the New Jersey Buffalo Soldiers in 2006; but I’ve been riding an iron horse since 1968 - from New Jersey to Alaska, Canada, Mexico and across country, to every U.S. state except Hawaii.

I am blessed and have worked hard to be considered a recognized expert in the fields of self-defense, defensive tactics, law enforcement, firearms and the juvenile justice system.  For over twenty-five years, I’ve worked for the County Courts and was an investigator for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.  I have spent the last three decades training and consulting police academies, school systems, and private companies in various areas of policing and security.  Since 1998, as Chief of Security for all Camden, New Jersey’s public schools, I have dedicated myself to issues about the protection of all citizens, and especially the safety and support of children.

I’m a seventh degree black belt in GoJo Ryu karate, and have won numerous Grand Championships in competitions throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.  As head instructor and founder of Iron Cobra Karate School in Camden, I have trained thousands of youths and adults since 1971.
